Practice Insider Report: Offense lights it up
At this point into two-a-day practices, the defense generally holds the upper-hand in every drill when matched up against the offense. Sure, the offense occasionally breaks out with a positive play or two, but on the whole the defense wins a large majority of the battles.
That hasn't been the case through the first seven days of practice, and that was very evident on Tuesday as the offense busted out play after play in 11-on-11 drills. Even head coach Bobby Bowden acknowledged that the offense is well ahead of where they were at this point last August, and attributes a lot of that to Drew Weatherford.
"I feel sure we are (ahead of last year)," Bowden said. "Just the quarterback, this time a year ago you had a quarterback totally inexperienced. Now you have one with those games under his belt and he thinks he is pretty dang good. He is executing better.
