Ohrnberger overcomes early adversity
"Youth is a disease, but it can be cured."
It's a quote by Theodore Roosevelt which Penn State head coach Joe Paterno pulled out from memory during Saturday's media day to describe how linebacker Dan Connor had grown from his off the field problems one year ago.
The same quote could also have been said for Rich Ohrnberger, who has climbed the depth chart from scout team to potentially first team offensive guard in the same period of time.
"Early on I had a few issues, grades and things like that," said Ohrnberger, a native of East Meadow, N.Y.
"I had to prove myself off the field so once that got taken care of, they gave me a shot."
