Alcoa Junior Picks Up Vol Offer
It's not often that you see Tennessee, or any big-time college program for that matter, offer a prospect just beginning his junior season in high school. Apparently though, Alcoa defensive back Brian Sommer is an exception, after picking up a scholarship offer from the Vols' coaching staff this weekend while making an unofficial visit to campus to take in the scrimmage on Saturday.
Tennessee has taken a couple of commitments in recent years from prospects prior to the spring of their junior years, including one just this month from Maryville's David Douglas, but it is certainly the exception rather than the rule.
Of the kids currently on campus though whom the staff has offered early and pushed for early commitments from, the future looks bright.
