Nederland home to one of 2008's best
The Nederland Bulldogs finished the 2005 season 6-4 losing to the Kilgore Bulldogs in the 4A division II area finals in what was another season as a playoff participant. While the Bulldogs lost seven starters on the defensive side of the ball, they return one of 2008's best defensive prospects in Dravannti Johnson and will be in the hunt again for an 11th playoff appearance in 12 years.
As a sophomore, Johnson recorded nearly 80 tackles, earning Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 20-4A. The 6-foot-2, 221-pound linebacker/defensive end plays the game with a passion and is goal oriented, says Nederland head coach Larry Neumann.
"He is a hard worker and is driven to succeed," Neumann said. "He worked hard in the off-season and should have a very good year for us."
