Who will replace Ethan Kilmer?
There have been question marks during the offseason about the 2006 Nittany Lions. Can the offensive line provide protection for Anthony Morelli? Will the inexperienced secondary be ready in time? Is there enough depth at defensive end?
While all of the attention has been focused on the offense and defense, one big question still remains untouched.
Who is going to replace Ethan Kilmer's production on special teams?
Last year, punt return coach Ron Vanderlinden told his players in a meeting that special teams accounts for 40 percent of the yards in a football game. Thanks to Kilmer, many of those yards didn't turn into touchdowns. The track star turned wide receiver finished the season with 25 tackles and was first behind all of the starters in that category. If there was a 12th man award for defense, Kilmer would have won it.
"Ethan Kilmer is a special athlete and he did just a great job for us," said punt coverage coach Larry Johnson.
