U-M defensive line play suits Melancon
With the first game of the 2006 season for Michigan, a new era emerged with the arrival of first-year defensive coordinator Ron English. The Wolverine defense totaled six sacks in Saturday's win over Vanderbilt, four of which came from their front four. Lutcher, La., defensive tackle Rolando Melancon stayed in front of his television for the entire game and liked what he saw.
The other thing Melancon mentioned about the Michigan-Vanderbilt game that caught his attention was the atmosphere in the Big House during the game, one he called "crazy." He had a chance to discuss that game, as well as a number of other topics, with his recruiter at Michigan, Fred Jackson.
