Ohio DL looking at State
The state of Ohio is always a fertile recruiting ground for defensive line prospects. Under Coach John L Smith the Spartan have landed players like Justin Kershaw, Nick Smith and Brandon Long from there. This year they are focused on a few key prospects from the Buckeye State and one of them is Steve Matas of Mentor High School.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Matas is listed by Rivals.com as a strong-side defensive end. He is rated a 3-star prospect and the #38 player in Ohio for the class of 2007. Looking at his list of scholarship offers, an argument could be made that Matas deserves to be ranked higher. His list of offers in indicative of a top 20 player in the state of Michigan.
