Pelican State's top athlete wide open
One of Louisiana's top athletes is still wide open when it comes to recruiting.
While there are five teams that rank high for his services, Stefoin Francois is keeping the door open for others during his recruitment.
"LSU, Florida, Texas, Tennessee and Florida State are my top five," Francois said after the East St. John vs. O. P. Walker game last Friday night. "There are several others that are recruiting me hard, Ole Miss is one of those schools, I haven't ruled anyone out yet, and I'm still wide open at this point."
Francois, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound high school linebacker that runs a 4.5 forty, is expected to play safety at the college level. The talented defender has led his East St. John team to a 5-0 record and a No. 3 state ranking in Class 5A.
"We are doing well right now, we are 5-0 and one of the top three teams in the state," Francois said. "I have over 15 offers right now; it's been a great season so far."
Francois is coming off of an impressive junior campaign in a Wildcat uniform that saw him make 97 tackles (7 for loss) to go along with five sacks and an interception.
Ole Miss running back coach and Louisiana native is recruiting the New Orleans area and is also recruiting Francois.
"Coach Frank Wilson is doing a tremendous job of recruiting this area and the state," Larry Dauterive veteran coach of East St. John said. "He relates well with these young men and he is very familiar with the area, he does a great job for Ole Miss in Louisiana."
Dauterive also had several things to say about Francois performance so far this season.
"Stefoin is true competitor, he is one of the best athletes in the state," Dauterive said. "He will line up and hit you in the mouth."
Francois is the No. 7 overall rated athlete by Rivals.com in the state of Louisiana and is currently a four star prospect.
