Cheraw, S.C., four-star defensive end Cliff Matthews made the South Carolina Gamecock coaches ecstatic last week when he called them to commit. The 6-foot-4.5, 235-pound Matthews got a sense of how they felt when he received some exciting news of his own over the weekend.

"I got the call letting me know that I had picked to play in the all star game down in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on January 4th," Matthews said. "I was real excited when they told me that because I had been hoping I'd get picked for one of those games.
