Touchdown-saving McAfee a PAT machine
MORGANTOWN--Mountaineer head coach Rich Rodriguez was after place-kicker Pat McAfee Monday night at the Puskar Center.
McAfee, a true sophomore, had not tried to dye Rod's locks the same peroxided sunshine blonde like his own. What he had done was to commit something of a "foul" for a head coach who had once walked on to the WVU football team as a sometimes safety and special teams man.
Mac had closed his eyes when making a tackle on special teams last Saturday against Syracuse.
"I'm fixing to go tease him, because they have a picture of him making a tackle with his eyes closed. I don't even know if he saw what he hit," said Rod.
Had Mac not made the tackle, it is likely the Orange return man would have romped for a score. It was the second straight game that McAfee, who says he runs a 4.62 40-yard-dash and played soccer at Plum (Pa.) High, had made a score-saving stick--eyes open or not.
