Injuries bring up burning questions
When word first surfaced that Reggie Smith was walking around on crutches early last week, concern spread throughout Soonerland. On Saturday, those fears were realized as Smith failed to take the field when the Oklahoma defense trotted onto the field without their starting strong safety.
The man largely responsible for turning Oklahoma's defense from mush to mash was missing in action.
Smith did eventually take the field, but he played sparingly throughout the Sooners' contest with the Buffs.
Following the game, OU head coach Bob Stoops was a bit cryptic when asked to describe Smith's status.
Stoops was asked during his postgame press conference if he wished he'd have gotten Smith out of the game before he hobbled off the field late.
"He did?" feigned Stoops. "Nah, he's fine. I didn't notice? Out in what situation?"
