Chambers shines despite poor conditions
Following Fort Wayne (Ind.) Snider's 60-0 win over Marion in the second round of the IHSAA state playoffs, the mud-caked face, jersey, cleats, even the coat thrown over his shoulder pads, of Snider quarterback/ safety Artis Chambers spoke to just how nasty the conditions were in Central Indiana Friday night. Although many of the 6-2, 195-pound Chambers' attributes should have been neutralized by the elements, the Michigan commitment still shown brightly.
Snider entered the game against Marion ranked No. 9 in the Class 5A rankings. Marion was ranked No. 7 in the same class and hosted Friday night's game, but their field was turned to into a soup bowl by heavy rains that had been showering most of the day. From the opening drive, Snider showed much more proficiency at handling the difficult elements.
