Wangmene is ready to sign with Texas
The Texas Longhorns are set to sign three prospects Wednesday, November 8 on the first day of the fall signing period. One of those three is former San Antonio big man Alexis Wangmene. The 6-8, 235-pound athletic interior player will play his senior season at Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., after transferring in the summer.
Blair Academy head basketball coach Joe Mantegna is not a stranger to talented basketball players. Players such as Luol Deng, Charlie Villanueva and Royal Ivey played at Blair Academy in recent years and are now making their mark in the NBA. With the start of practice one week away, Coach Mantegna is already very impressed with what he has seen from his new big man.
Wangmene committed to the Longhorns in the summer over Virginia, Florida and Wake Forest after an intense recruiting battle. Coach Mantegna says Wangmene's body will take off under the Longhorns strength & conditioning Coach Todd Wright.
