Johnson earns second title in three years

As talented as Muskegon (Mich.) five-star cornerback Ronald Johnson is, he has not always been the star of the show for the Big Red. While his senior season has been nothing short of spectacular, Muskegon brings a variety of weapons, especially on offense, and flexed their muscle Friday afternoon in a 32-30 state final win over Warren DeLaSalle.

Oddly, the biggest play the 6-1, 185-pound Johnson made on the day was hardly his most spectacular. With his team clinging to a 32-30 lead late in the fourth quarter, Johnson tracked down Pilot wide receiver Don Fowler at the five-yard line and then hung on as Fowler reached the ball for the goal line. As he was stretching for the goal, however, the ball came loose and Muskegon recovered in the end zone for a touchback.
