Results show Kelly snubbed by Big 12
Obstacles, hurdles, doubt - all ways to describe what Oklahoma went through this season to become Big 12 Champions. When Oklahoma lost Rhett Bomar at the beginning of the season, Paul Thompson stepped in. When Adrian Peterson went down, Allen Patrick stepped in to fill the void.
But one of the biggest keys to Oklahoma's championship run in 2006 has been overlooked.
The Sooners were a good team after they lost Bomar because of Paul Thompson. But they became champions because of their most underappreciated player. Malcolm Kelly's 10 catches for 142 yards in the Big 12 Championship game set records for receptions and receiving yardage last Saturday in Kansas City.
