Monroe sizzles as a junior
Angleton is home to one of the top junior football players in the state of Texas in D.J. Monroe. The 2008 cornerback prospect played upwards of 100 plays per game in the 2006 season for the Wildcats, starting at running back, free safety, blocking on the field goal/extra point team as well as participating on the punt return team.
With all of that time on the field, one would think that fatigue would come into play every Friday night. Angleton head coach Finis Vanover says Monroe refuses to come off the field.
"He is an incredible player," Vanover said. "D.J. is the type of player that wants to be on the field every down. He gets mad at me when I take him out to catch his breath. He practices the same way. He is very mature and has a great work ethic."
