Marcoux adds offers
Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep recently capped a 12-0 season with a state title. The Ironmen featured one of the nation's top recruits in four-star defensive end Justin Trattou, a Notre Dame commitment.
Trattou wasn't the only top defensive lineman on the team. Despite playing in Trattou's shadow, defensive tackle Dan Marcoux contributed over 50 tackles and eight sacks this season to help draw the attention of Division I college coaches.
"I definitely got my name out there," Marcoux said. "I knew it would happen eventually; I just had to have a good year."
That performance paid off as Marcoux recently picked up several scholarship offers and he has a pair of official visits on his calendar.
"I have offers from Kent State, Akron and Delaware," he said. "I have a visit to Akron on Jan. 19 and I'm going to Kent State on Jan. 26."
Michigan State, Rutgers and Maine are also showing interest.
Marcoux's visits to Kent State and Akron will be important because all he knows about the schools is that they are both members of the Mid-American Conference. But, both schools have had success recently and that's high on Marcoux's list of priorities.
"I just want to go somewhere where I'll be able to play and where the program is on the rise," he said.
Playing for a winner is important because Marcoux has spent his high school career on a winning team.
"We're 12-0 and just won the state championship and we're No. 9 in the nation right now," he said. "It's been unreal playing for coach (Brian) Toal and Bosco; playing for a national title is what everyone dreams of."
Marcoux earned all-league and all-county honors this season. All-state honors have yet to be announced.
