1. Everson Griffen, DE, Agua Fria (Ariz.) Avondale
Whenever you ask a West player who has been the most impressive guy in practice, Tucson (Ariz.) Agua Fria defensive end Everson Griffen's name always comes up. Griffen is a matchup nightmare, and he's licking his chops to get after the East quarterbacks on Saturday.
2. Donovan Warren, DB, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly
The West squad is loaded with talented wide receivers, but every one of them will tell you that Long Beach (Calif.) Poly cornerback Donovan Warren is the best defensive back they've faced. Warren's coverage is stifling, and he plays with a physical presence you just don't see at the high school level.
3. Jimmy Clausen, QB, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Westlake (Calif.) Oaks Christian quarterback Jimmy Clausen continues to dazzle onlookers with his poise in the pocket and his accuracy. Clausen will no doubt make a strong run for the starting job at Notre Dame this spring.
4. Ryan Mallett, QB, Texarkana (Texas) Texas HS
Texarkana (Texas) quarterback Ryan Mallett is the ultimate team player. Mallett has punted, long snapped, played receiver and returned kicks this week in practice on top of his duties behind center. Mallett has earned the respect of every player in the West locker room.
5. Tray Allen, OL, Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prarie
The best word to describe South Grand Prairie (Texas) offensive lineman Tray Allen is "versatile." The future Texas Longhorn has worked at left tackle for most of the week, but he's also capable of moving inside and playing guard. Allen is very similar to current Texas standout offensive linemen Justin Blalock. Earlier this season, Blalock moved from tackle to guard.
6. Terrance Toliver, WR, Hempstead (Texas)
A groin injury suffered in between practices on Thursday forced the Hempstead (Texas) star to sit out the entire afternoon workout. The injury moves Toliver down a few spots in today's Hot 11.
7. Chris Galippo, LB, Anaheim (Calif.) Servite
Anaheim (Calif.) Servite linebacker Chris Galippo will tell you that he is the best backer in San Antonio. During an interview on Thursday, Galippo said without a doubt he feels like no linebacker at this year's game can play at his level.
8. Gerald Jones, WR, Oklahoma City (Okla.) Milwood
The West has good depth at wide receiver, and Oklahoma City (Okla.) Millwood's Gerald Jones proved that by having a very strong practice on Thursday. Jones ran great routes and did a solid job of catching balls in coverage. How this guy got out of the state of Oklahoma boggles my mind. Tennessee is getting themselves a pretty good one.
9. Chris Strong, LB/DE, Batesville (Miss.)
Batesville (Miss.) standout Chris Strong is built like a defensive end at 6-foot-3, 260 pounds. However, he runs like a linebacker. Coincidentally, Strong has been playing both positions for the West squad and is very explosive when he comes off the edge.
10. Ryan Miller, OT, Littleton (Colo.) Columbine
Watching the nation's No. 1 defensive end square off against the No. 1 offensive tackle is something you don't get to see every day. Littleton (Colo.) Columbine offensive lineman Ryan Miller continues to battle it out with Griffen. On Thursday, Miller did a solid job in his pass protection.
11. Brian Price, DT, Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw
Los Angeles Crenshaw defensive tackle Brian Price has quick feet and has been a disruptive force on the inside. He has had a very solid week of practice in San Antonio.
