Staff looks to add CB depth
Tanard Jackson and Terrell Lemon are leaving Syracuse after a productive four years but the starting cornerback tandem leaving will leave a big whole for the Syracuse pass defense. Now there are three returning cornerbacks and two young freshmen that have not been given a position in the defensive backfield. The Orange coaching staff has already received a verbal commitment from New Jersey cornerback D'Amon Merkerson but they are still in need of more depth. To strengthen the defensive backfield Syracuse has traveled to the "Sunshine State" to take a look at Mike Holmes.
Holmes 5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect from Jacksonville (FL) is very impressed with what he has seen from Syracuse so far.
The other schools that are still around but with lesser interest then Syracuse are Iowa, Indiana, and Middle Tennessee State. A decision is close for Holmes as he is looking to decide after his visit to Indiana. The visit to Indiana will take place on Jan. 12.
