Small but explosive
Everyone's heard the expression "dynamite comes in small packages," and that expression couldn't be more true in regards to D.J. Monroe. The Angleton playmaker is never going to be the biggest guy in any game he plays - he stands at 5-foot-9 - but he's more often than not going to be the most explosive player on the field, and that goes for either side of the ball.
Monroe, one of the Lone Star State's top pure athletes, stars for Angleton on both offense and defense (not to mention on the track where he's the defending Class 4A 100 meter state champion). And as of Sunday night, he's hoping he'll someday be starring for the Texas Longhorns.
Monroe attended a Longhorn mini-camp over the weekend and was one of a handful of prospects to pick up a scholarship offer. Before he left Mack Brown's office, the speedy playmaker gave a verbal commitment.
