In-state star gets UA offer
In a year that is shaping up as one of the deepest recruiting classes in-state for defensive end talent in recent memory, the University of Alabama has wasted no time stockpiling talent. The Tide has landed two quick 2008 commitments from Pickens County's Michael Williams and Pleasant Grove's Brandon Lewis.
The Tide hasn't slowed down because of these early verbals as the latest target along the defensive front to receive an Alabama offer is Eufaula's Courtney Upshaw, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound pass-rushing specialist.
"Courtney got his offer while he was in Alabama for Junior Day," said Eufaula coach Dan Klages who guided the Tigers to a 14-1 record in 2006. "He now has offers from Alabama, Auburn and Troy, and I am sure many more will come soon."
