Two-sport star plans visit to ISU

It is no coincidence that many college football players, especially along the lines and at the linebacker positions, were wrestlers in high school. The sport of wrestling has many components that can translate into advantages down near the line of scrimmage in football. Champlin (Minn.) Park linebacker Sam Maresh not only plays both sports, he excels in both.

As a sophomore, Maresh took home the state title in the 215-pound division. Now standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 240 pounds, Maresh moved up to the heavyweight division as a junior and this past weekend took home the state title there as well, finishing his season with a record of 41-0.

He has nine offers, including Iowa State, Kansas State and Miami.
