Notebook: Good day for the offense
While Auburn's defense has dominated for much of spring drills, the offense has started to come around just a few days before the A-Day game. They had perhaps their best practice of the spring on Wednesday.
"It was a good, physical practice today," said AU head coach Tommy Tuberville. "It was good to see our offense was much improved from what we were doing the first few days. We've made improvement. Hopefully, we'll see more improvement this Saturday."
Quarterback Brandon Cox continued his outstanding play this spring connecting on a number of big pass plays Wednesday. Cox's best throw, however, went through the hands of wide receiver Prechae Rodriguez who Cox hit in stride on a post pattern that would have gone for an 80-yard touchdown.
Rodriguez bounced back later in 11-on-11 work to haul in a 20-yard touchdown in the back of the endzone as Cox avoided the rush of Antonio Coleman.
Cox also found Rod Smith on a slant for a 7-yard touchdown.
