Compton behemoth is a force
The Compton, Calif., high school football program was long dormant until coach Calvin Bryant took the reins a few years ago. Once the tough Moore League's doormat now Compton is one of the better teams in the league.
One of the reasons is Compton's ability to keep their better players at the school like offensive lineman/defensive lineman Fuifatu Laumea (6-1, 320, 5.2).
"As a four-year starter," Bryant said. "Fuifatu will be one of the most physical and dominating lineman in the Moore League this upcoming season.
"Fuifatu possesses good size, strength and is very aggressive," Bryant said. "He plays both ways for us and has been one of the main catalysts for our recent resurgence and success.
Laumea was a first-team all-league selection as an offensive lineman as a junior.
On the recruiting trail, Laumea has received letters from BYU, Alabama, Purdue, Arizona, Oregon State, Washington State and Virginia.
