Richardson doing his best juggling act
After a 23-0 start and an ACC opening series sweep of Wake Forest, the Florida State baseball team found itself ranked number one by Collegiate Baseball. Unfortunately for Mike Martin's squad, their spot on top of the rankings may not last long.
In the first game after receiving the No. 1 ranking, the 'Noles suffered their first setback of the season on Wednesday, a 5-3 loss to Jacksonville. When the first pitch was being thrown in Jacksonville, the Seminole football team was completing its the third day of spring practice in Tallahassee.
Even though he is on a football scholarship, D'Vontrey Richardson wasn't in Tallahassee on Wednesday. Instead, he was on the First Coast doing everything possible to keep FSU's amazing winning streak alive going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
Despite the demands of a split schedule with spring football and baseball, the two-sport star says he appreciates FSU's accomplishments on the diamond because he has been a big part of it. So far, he has appeared in all 24 games, started in 22 of them and is batting .425.
