On the day before the first spring scrimmage, the WSU football team took all their pads off in Thursday's practice. It might have been relieving without pads on a beautiful afternoon in the Palouse, but the Cougars still managed to break a sweat while focusing on the passing and kicking games.

The practice opened up with the kickers putting their legs into kickoffs from the 30-yard line. This season, all college football teams will lineup and kickoff from the 30, which is deeper than the 35 that was previously used.

A big part of [the spring] is going to be kickoffs," senior-to-be Romeen Abdollmohammadi said. "They just moved it back to the 30-yard line, so it will be a big part of what I will be working on until next season."
