Spurrier: Hugs all around for Pepper
Defensive lineman Nathan Pepper is "doing as well as can be expected" after his 24-year old brother Demetrius Pepper was arrested Saturday morning outside Williams-Brice Stadium for murder and other crimes, USC head coach Steve Spurrier said late Monday afternoon.
"It's a very disappointing situation, as we all know, for he and his family", said Spurrier, who commented following a two-hour workout in helmets and shorts on the Bluff Road practice fields.
"But we're all hugging up on (Nathan) and obviously what happened, he had nothing to do with."
Nathan Pepper participated in Monday's practice and has not requested a leave of absence, Spurrier said.
Pepper was not made available to the media following practice by team officials.
