Coffman looking forward to his chance
Carson Coffman isn't afraid of competing with one of his closest personal friends for the starting quarterback job at Kansas State. Coffman knows as well as anyone just how talented Josh Freeman is - the two have been friends since they were young children - and that the odds of unseating Freeman are long to stay the least, but Coffman is still excited about the opportunity that awaits.
How is your arm since the injury?
"It's recovered great. I wouldn't say that it's 100 percent yet, but it's very close. I ice it down after every practice so it doesn't swell up. I think that's just normal."
What's your comfort level right now?
"I feel pretty comfortable. Me, Josh and Coach (James) Franklin meet every day. I haven't gotten enough reps yet to feel completely as comfortable as I should."
What's missing the most right now for you to be ready?
"I would just say more reps, more reps and experience. I think I'll get that. With only two quarterbacks in the spring I'm getting as many reps as Josh, and with the summer and two-a-days, I think I'll be ready."
