NU Notes: Watson hopes to see new faces step up
The Nebraska football team held their final practice before Saturday's Red-White game inside the Hawk Championship Indoor Facility on Thursday morning.
As the Huskers gear up for Saturday's spring game, offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said there are a lot of things he's looking forward to seeing.
"What I know about spring games is somebody always steps up that's an unknown," Watson said. "Then you go, 'wow, a guy finally gets it.' That's because you're in game day atmosphere and a guy just kind of cuts it loose and he's not prohibited by the repetition of practice. Somebody always shines, usually it's a handful of guys, so that's what you want to see."
Watson also said when you compare Nebraska's spring game to other schools around the country, nobody even comes close.
Watson recalls is first Red-White game experience last year and he said it felt no different than a game day Saturday.
"Here at Nebraska spring games are special," Watson said. "I remember last year I was like 'who showed up that we're going to play?' The kids really look forward to it and our players really love the spring game because the fan support is so awesome-they get into it and it's a great day for us."
