Grimes knows receivers have work to do
Charlie Weis wasn't going to rebuild his roster of receivers overnight.
In fact, a month of spring practices won't be nearly enough time for the Irish passing game to replace 145 catches, 1,924 yards receiving and 27 scoring grabs, a.k.a the stats posted by Jeff Samardzija and Rhema McKnight last season. In the end, maybe that's not much of a surprise considering the inexperienced roster of receivers entrusted to keep the Notre Dame passing game soaring.
Heading into Saturday's Blue-Gold Game, Weis can count on David Grimes as his No. 1 target, but after that it's George West and everybody else. West has two career receptions to his name. Everybody else - Robby Parris, Richard Jackson, Barry Gallup and D.J. Hord - has one.
