Coach: Transition no problem for Mealer
After Michigan picked up a verbal commitment from Wauseon, Ohio, prospect Elliott Mealer, the question was whether the 6-6, 290-pound prospect would need more time to adapt to the offensive tackle position after playing tight end in high school. According to Wauseon head coach Mark Emans, however, Mealer is more advanced as a blocker than previously thought.
Size-wise, there is no concern about Mealer's transition to the offensive line in college. He played around 280 pounds this past fall, but was up to 296 just last week, even after a winter of basketball. Physically, Emans expects his standout to be fully prepared by the time he gets to Ann Arbor.
