An under the radar talent in the state of North Carolina is in the midst of drawing some major interest. Lorenzo Williams, a 6-foot-2, 194-pound safety out of Fayetteville (NC) Westover, already has a pair of ACC offers - from Wake Forest and Duke.
Who else is showing the talented athlete interest at this point?
"Notre Dame, North Carolina, East Carolina, Virginia, NC State and Clemson are also in there," Williams told Tigerillustrated.com Monday evening. "I've been to Wake a few times already and have taken unofficial visits to UNC and Duke."
What are his thoughts on the preliminary contenders and does he have a dream school?
Clemson - "(Defensive line) coach (Chris) Rumph just came to see me at my school. He's a good person. He's real silly with me and plays around. That's crazy; I never would've imagined that Clemson would be recruiting me. I always use them as my team on Playstation2."
"I know all of their players - C.J. Spiller, James Davis, Chansi Stuckey, C.J. Gaddis, Gaines Adams - I love Clemson. I just love their energy, even on the road and especially at home. I especially like their defense. They had one of the best defenses in the nation last year in my opinion. Clemson is my dream school I'd have to say."
East Carolina - "I haven't heard from them in a long time. I like the school and when they do stay in touch it's through text (messages)."
Virginia - "It's a good school. I haven't seen them play much. It's a school with a great historical background."
North Carolina - "Coach (Butch) Davis and that new staff; hands down that makes them better. I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do this season."
Notre Dame - "They've shown a little interest. I like how they play and take on the big schools."
North Carolina State - "I like their coaches. They did a great job at Boston College. I know they are going to turn NC State around."
Wake Forest - "I like their staff and the season they just had. I like the direction they are going, their academics and especially (offensive line) coach (Steed) Lobotzke."
The athlete plans to visit Wake Forest, Duke, South Carolina, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia and East Carolina this summer.
He'll base his decision on four notable elements.
"I want to play for a great football team that plays in front of a great atmosphere," the Tar Heel state product detailed. "I want to play for a staff that really wants me and go to a school with great academics."
As a junior, Williams recorded 68 tackles including three for a loss. On offense, he caught 11 passes for 249 yards, and took some snaps at quarterback, where he rushed for a score, and also returned kickoffs.
In track this spring, the speedster indicated that he's been timed running the 100-meter dash in 10.7 seconds, the 200-meter dash in 22.2 seconds and the 400-meters in 49.3 seconds.
