Carter gains momentum
Wide receiver Morgan Carter hoped that by participating in New Jersey's Elite College Combine he'd get his name out to more college coaches. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound athlete from Woodbridge, Va., did that and more as he dominated the one-on-one's on his way to earning the event's MVP award.
"I didn't expect to win it," said Carter about his camp honors. "But, I did expect to perform well. I knew I could perform."
Carter said he was told by the combine coaches that he ran crisp routes and couldn't be stopped when matched against a single defensive back.
"They said I was neck and neck with some other guys until the 1-on-1's," he said. "I don't want to sound cocky, but (the DB's) couldn't check me. That showed that I was a physical performer."
That performance helped Carter draw his third offer when Michigan State extended an scholarship earlier this week. He's also seen an increase in the number of coaches visiting his school.
