SoCal QB impresses colleges
Strong quarterback play has long been the staple at Newbury Park, Calif., and it looks like that tradition will continue with Colby Cameron (6-3, 175, 4.8) lining up behind center.
Cameron earned first-team all-league and second-team all-county honors as a junior after hitting on 195 passes out of 384 attempts for 2,398 yards, 23 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. Notre Dame freshman Jimmy Clausen was first-team all-league so being second isn't that bad.
Utah's offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig was on campus recently and was very impressed with Cameron. There could be an offer in the works.
Louisiana Tech was on campus last Friday (May 11th) and saw Cameron work out and they too liked what they saw.
The Pac 10 has been on campus represented by Arizona and Oregon. USC is scheduled to show up today (Monday May 14th) and Cal is planning to be on campus sometime this month.
San Jose State and BYU are supposed be on campus this week.
Cameron attended Arizona's junior day earlier in the spring and took in the Wildcat spring game. He is also planning on attending BYU's junior day on June 1st.
Cameron has outstanding bloodlines. His brother has grown to 6-foot-6 and 235-pounds as a red shirt freshman on the BYU basketball team. His older brother was an outstanding wide receiver on the high school level and the word is the football team wants him to come out for football when he returns from his LDS mission. His sister is on scholarship as a basketball player at USC.
