Michigan native rising in Arizona
Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's College Prep is one of the most prominent schools in the state of Michigan when it comes to producing Division 1 football talent. The Eaglets sent four players to BCS Conference schools in the class of 2007, and while they don't have that kind of talent in 2008, a former Eaglet is making waves out West.
Linebacker Kurt Mangum (6-1, 230) lived in Michigan for seven years and attended St. Mary's through his sophomore year of school. He then moved to Chandler, Ariz., where he played last fall at Hamilton High School. This past winter he transferred to Basha High School and will play for that school's program this fall.
During his time in the Orchard Lake area, Mangum became quite familiar with the University of Michigan and still has guys he knows who play for the Wolverines.
Michigan has started to show interest in Mangum and defensive coordinator Ron English stopped by his school this spring to chat with his head coach.
