The negotiations can now begin between LSU football signee Chad Jones and professional baseball.

Jones, who played at Southern Lab High School in Baton Rouge, was drafted Friday in the 13th round by the Houston Astros.

Under new Major League Baseball rules, Houston has an August 15 deadline of signing Jones to a contract.

"Like I've been saying all along, I thought that it would come down to this type of round," said Al Jones, Chad's father.
