Linebacker visiting Purdue this week
Though several major college programs have expressed interest in Glen Allen (Va.) Deep Run linebacker/wide receiver Derek Jackson, but only one I-A team has extended an offer thus far.
It may turn out to be the only one he needs.
Boston College, North Carolina, Northwestern, N.C State and Connecticut have all been showing interest in Jackson. But after he drew early scholarship offers from just Division I-AA programs Richmond, Elon and Liberty, he picked up his first major conference scholarship offer from Purdue last month.
"My coach had sent a whole bunch of highlight film to colleges and Purdue had really liked the highlight tape," Jackson said. "Coach (Bill) Legg had called me during that period. He was just selling Purdue. He said he saw some good things on that highlight tape and he said he needed game film. We sent him the game film and they were all going to evaluate that. They offered in early June.
