Smith talks U-M visit, decision timeframe
The battle for the services of Detroit Southeastern four-star wide receiver Fred Smith have come down to the two instate Big Ten programs. Both Michigan and Michigan State have had a chance to host Smith and his family on unofficial visits in the last few weeks, with his trip to Ann Arbor occurring this past Saturday.
Michigan was hosting an academic open house for football recruits Saturday and that gave the 6-2, 215-pound Smith and his family an opportunity to see the academic aspects of the university. He was accompanied on the visit by both his parents, two of his brothers, a cousin, an aunt and an uncle.
