'His speed is unreal'
Matthews (N.C.) Butler has arguably the best secondary in the country this season. Robert Blanton has verbally committed to Notre Dame.
Eddie Whitley gave his pledge to Virginia Tech. The lone uncommitted player is safety Spencer Adams, who has Florida high on his list.
Butler coach Mike Newsome has high praise for all his top players but it carries even more weight when he says Adams' speed is unreal. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect is also a track star that finished second nationally in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 400 hurdles.
"I know he's looking for a place where he is going to feel comfortable playing football and running track," Newsome said. "He's been laying low letting things happen and I know without narrowing down his list he's really high on Florida and Michigan, North Carolina and Clemson. There are definitely others, too, but I know he likes those four.
