Aggies outside longer for second day of practice
The Texas A&M football team took to the practice fields for the second day of August camp in helmets and shorts once again, but Tuesday the Aggies spent a little more time outside of the new McFerrin Athletic Center and on the outdoor practice fields next door.
It showed as players walked into the Bright Complex drenched in sweat from the near triple-digit temperatures in College Station.
"It was a good workout. We spent a little more time outside today, and it was a little warm," said A&M head coach Dennis Franchione. "We fought through it well. We got a lot of reps at the end of practice even though we had shorts on. It takes some mental toughness and discipline to fight through it all, and I think we did a good job of that. We can always improve, but for the first two days I think we're headed in the right direction."
The Aggies are taking the NCAA mandatory "acclimation" week to infuse more of their offense and defense, and then build on that once they are able to work out in pads. Monday A&M started putting in more offensive and defensive packages, and Tuesday they did even more.
