Riley goes with Canfield and Moevao

BeaverBlitz.com With the new scoreboard on taping the Beavers live while they were practicing, Oregon State's receivers were putting on a display of nice catches for the small crowd at Reser Stadium Wednesday afternoon. With a little over a week to go, the team chemistry overall looks a lot better and the guys look very anxious to start the season. A lot of strong points from today's practice but they aren't quite there yet in terms of putting it all together. But here's what I witnessed from the metal bleachers on the west side of the stadium.
The big news of the practice was that the quarterback battle will continue to rage on, at least until after the first game against Utah. Riley said that Sean Canfield would get the start in the first quarter with Lyle Moevao taking the reigns in the second quarter. Canfield would return in the third with Moevao taking over in the fourth quarter. Don't look for this to be a long term solution, but rather another "test" for the talented signal callers.
At the start of practice, the team did some hurry-up offense with Canfield leading the first team offense against the first team defense. The sophomore struggled badly, completing just one pass and had another picked off from Brandon Hughes.
