Gateway continues to churn out talent
Rivals recently released its 100 to watch for the Class of 2009. Five players on the list represented the state of Pennsylvania, two of them from the same team, Monroeville's Gateway High School. The Gators already have four legitimate Division I seniors in Shayne Hale, Cameron Saddler, Eric Livsey and Leon Green, and will look to those four to have a successful 2007 campaign. Corey Brown is a junior who will also have an impact on both sides of the ball for the Gators.
Brown and his teammates wrapped up preseason drills Friday night with a scrimmage against Bethel Park. The Gators scored three touchdowns, to Bethel Park's one. Brown had two catches and an interception, playing a total of 40 plays, at receiver and corner.
Brown says 12 schools have promised him a written offer after Labor Day weekend. Among some of the schools are West Virginia, Pitt, Penn State, Syracuse, Ohio State, Rutgers, Michigan, Kentucky and Northwestern.
