Bell one to watch
One of the biggest names in recruiting circles for the 2009 class will be Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway athlete Dorian Bell, who had a monster sophomore season and is poised for great things again this year. Gateway coach Terry Smith had high praise for Bell, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect.
"He's the most natural athlete I ever coached," Smith said. "He can obviously be a special player. He can be a first round (NFL) draft pick one day. He's big, he's strong, he's fast, he's athletic, he can jump, he has natural senses to the football, he understands the game and he makes a lot of plays."
Smith probably is not overstating the case. Bell just might be that talented. As a sophomore, he finished with 96 tackles and five sacks. Boston College, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse and West Virginia are already involved. Rivals.com included him on the 100 to watch list for 2009.
