VT end commit discusses his decision

Virginia Tech acquired some much needed help along the defensive line yesterday just before the season opener when an in-state defensive end committed to the Hokies. The 6-foot-1, 260-pounder gave his pledge to Tech over offers from Syracuse, Virginia and Tennessee.
"I actually went to the game yesterday and told coach Beamer first before the game started that I wanted to commit," defensive end Antoine Hopkins said. "After the game, I caught up with coach Cavanaugh and told him too.
"They both were surprised since I didn't call or tell them beforehand. I just came up and surprised them in person. They told me they were real happy that I committed and glad I wanted to be a Hokie."
