Cadets blank Kelly's Stars
Week one in Minnesota high school football saw an anticpated first day match-up of top private schools Holy Angels and St. Thomas. The game was not as exciting as the opener showed flaws but Minnesota Gopher commit Brendan Kelly gave fans at home watching on FSN and the fans in attendance a glimpse of why he's a three star player and the 37th ranked strongside defensive end recruit in the nation.
At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds Kelly is long and athletic with good footwork. Brendan also has another gear he can turn on to chase down the offensive talent with the football. On the first drive Kelly was at his best first chasing down the ball carrier to wrap up the play and shortly after he was shedding a double team to stop the running back at the line of scrimmage with a solid wrap-up. Later in the quarter Kelly shed the block and quickly positioned himself to dig in and wrap up the runner at the line.
