Monday Insider: Aches, pains and gains

USCFootball.com Josh Pinkard is out. Patrick Turner and Chauncey Washington returned - sort of. Joe McKnight looked electric after three days off. Mark Sanchez is all the way back. And Brian Cushing sat out but is expecting to play Saturday at Nebraska.

The junior defensive back dressed for Monday's practice, and he participated in light drills before taking an early seat.
A week before the season opener against Idaho, coach Pete Carroll listed Pinkard as a co-starter at cornerback, with Cary Harris. Pinkard injured his right knee two days before the game. Since then, he has not practiced fully.
"He tried today; it was a chance to see where he is; and it just didn't feel good at all," Carroll said. "It's unfortunate. He hurt himself a couple of weeks ago, and he's not going to be able to bounce back from it that soon."
Carroll said a more-detailed diagnosis of the injury should come Tuesday night.
