Auburn first to offer '09 in-state tailback
Auburn hasn't signed an in-state tailback since picking up Carnell Williams out of Etowah High School in 2001.
But that drought appears close to ending.
The Tigers already have a commitment from 2008 tailback Reggie Hunt from Daphne, Ala., and were the first school to offer 2009 standout Orwin Smith from Central-Phenix City.
"Auburn offered," said Smith. "It was a big surprise. It was shocking. It made my day when I saw the scholarship in the mail.
"Auburn is always known as a good team and good college. I like the program and I think I could work with it. I like the campus, it's a big campus. It's a great atmosphere."
