How solid is Newman with Notre Dame?
With Kentucky charging out of the gate with a 3-0 record, a statement win over Louisville and a spot in the latest AP Top 25 poll, many recruiting observers have wondered aloud if the Wildcats' success may be having an influence on one of the state's top prospects.
Those rumblings become even louder when the prospect is Louisville PRP defensive tackle Brandon Newman, who committed to Notre Dame in May. The Fighting Irish have been the polar opposite of the Cats this season, limping to an 0-3 start and being outscored 102-13 in the process.
Newman, a 6-foot-1, 300-pound defensive tackle who is rated the No. 3 prospect in the Bluegrass State for 2008, says he's watching to see what happens in South Bend the rest of the season.
"I'm committed to Notre Dame right now," he said.
