Garden State homecoming
Danny Oquendo can remember Saturday afternoons spent at Rutgers football games, following his uncle Walter King's career, a former receiver for the Scarlet Knights, while Lance Ball's mother wanted him to go to Rutgers.
A lot has changed since then for both of the New Jersey natives.
"I grew up watching all their games. I just remember going to their games and there being a minimal amount of fans, barely winning, maybe two games a season on the average. So they definitely came from the bottom 100 of D-1A to top 10 now," said Oquendo, the junior slot receiver from Hackensack, and one of 15 Terps from the Garden State.
Oquendo put the Terps through some suspense when he took an official campus visit to Rutgers after verbally committing to Maryland. Recruit coordinator James Franklin and Oquendo's recruiter, Dave Sollazzo, had some anxious moments before Oquendo finally reaffirmed his pledge to UM.
