Aldridge, Yeatman give Irish powerful identity
Consider Will Yeatman an updated driver's license.
James Aldridge can play the part of a current utility bill.
Because in Notre Dame's search for an honest offense, these sophomores represent the two forms of identification the Irish require to go from anonymous to fully registered.
Charlie Weis wants an offensive niche. Yeatman and Aldridge can help deliver one.
That showed last weekend against Michigan State when Yeatman helped pave the way for Aldridge's breakout, 104-yard performance. With Notre Dame hurting for a ground game, Yeatman turned into a do-everything blocker. He pounded away on the traditional edge but also slammed into defensive tackles with motioned "wham blocks" when he worked in an H-back role.
Those quick hits created interior seams for Aldridge to exploit.
